If I recall correctly, U-topia is derived from Greek meaning "No place", while Eu-topia is derived from Greek meaning "Good place". Confusion over the two probably stems from the original use of the term "Utopia" to descripe a Eutopia, implying that a Eutopia cannot really exist.

I like to think that if there ever was a universally despised, generally agreed-upon WORST episode of Friendship is Magic, it'd still be as good as an average episode of any average cartoon. The fact that there is no universally despised FiM episode just goes to show how ineffective this attack is. Personally, I quite like Mare Do Well, if only for the Darkwing Duck parallels. Episodes I actually dislike can be counted on one pony, with one hoof left unused. Since 20 are being chosen... (and that's not to mention I'll never even see the marathon...) well, yeah.

It is sorta cute. I personally didn't think badly of it: Dash always seemed like a bit of a glory-seeker, and the fact that for one episode they turned it up a notch is, honestly, par for the course. If they troll anyone, cool. Let them get their laughs. It's certainly not going to save them from us 'faggots'. And if they don't manage, well, that's just too bad.

They might succeed because bronies are generally looked down upon on 4chan, but I wouldn't be surprised if this fails spectacularly. If it does succeed, the resulting lulz would be very minor, so most people probably won't even bother.

At the moment, Maredowell is only a few dozen votes ahead of Lesson Zero. Sad how we can troll ourselves more effectively than they can.

It still baffles me how Lesson Zero is actually a liked episode. I'm willing to put its current standing as "most popular" to another troll attack we just haven't heard of, or to the MMDW troll attack repercussions from people who followed it AND know something about the show, but I do know many people actually like it. It's my least liked episode, overall. Just too much over-the-top overreactions from everyone. Could be understandable if it's actually about events immediately following the previous two episodes (the Discord release), but it's still a little too odd for my tastes. It's still pretty fun. I guess it's kinda like Pixar movies - even the worst that's ever made is still not actually bad.

It's liked because it's a meme-fest. The fact that it's way over-the-top is endearing as far as 90% of the internet is concerned. And it's done pretty damn well for an episode designed to fit as many memes as it possibly can in.

I guess I don't like memes very much then. At least, not cultivated memes. I like things that rise to be memes of their own accord, completely unintended. "20% Cooler", for instance. Twilight making twisted facial expressions simply looked like the animators just had a little too much of whatever beverage they're usually consuming at work and decided to try and outdo each other, then looked at it all and thought "hey, we can make an episode from it!". It just seems too... silly? "Deranged" might be a better word, even. Silly, but not quite funny.

And that's why we're not 90% of the internet.

Also, am I the only one who's watched the new episode? There should be Youtube copies up by now, at least.

I watched the stream, and then rewatched on Youtube. Pretty fun episode, all in all. But, more wacky magic in the universe. It's as if those writers no longer care about making a consistent 'verse and just go with whatever the toyline will feature next. I wonder why... (hint: it involves a certain L.F. leaving the show)

It seemed like, ever since Feeling Pinkie Keen, that while magic can be harnessed and controlled by the ponies and other being like Discord, for the most part it can do whatever the fuck it wants to whenever the fuck it wants to, and no amount of studying into its properties will reveal just everything it's capable of. Basically, it's just another part of physics.

I think they justified the "wacky magic" aspect pretty well. Yeah I raised an eyebrow when another nonsensical thing was introduced to fill a plot point, but zap apples turned out to be there for more than just a plot device and ended up as some decent world building, so I'm fine with it.



And whether or not you like Lesson Zero depends on whether or not you think "over the top" is considered a complement or not. Most people nowadays think wild and wacky and ridiculous is great, so...
