Those masks have small holes all over the mouth part, for the sake of breathing. Doesn't matter much to the actual loose paint itself, though.

But, yes, generally starting in Season 3 is where the show really hit its stride.

Also, Shades of Grey showed parts of this clip three times. It was pretty comical by the end.

Last time I played paintball I was shot in the head twice in two seconds. Apparently I did a good job of getting people in the mood because I was first out of the trench, the paintballs hit either side of my head and I fell over in surprise.

Paintball can be scary. We were in the "concrete barrel" arena, where basically one half of the arena are concrete pipes turning on their tops with tall grass all over, and the other half is a collection of metal barrels and large wooden wheels anchored in place. There was a ~25 foot patch of nothingness between the two sides, where the line was drawn. They threw smoke grenades as cover at one point, and my friend even rushed out into the open space to throw the grenade back. Anyway, I heard someone on their side yell "Three! Two! ONE!" and EVERYONE on their side stands up and starts firing. I couldn't hear anything else over the noise of paintball guns firing.
