Hrm....

Of all of season 2, skip the following:

Lesson Zero
Mare Do Well
Baby Cakes
Super Speedy Cider Squeezy
Read it and Weep
Hearts and Hooves Day
Putting Your Hoof Down

And watch the rest. The above all have serious problems, sort of like Feelin Pinkie Keen or Over a Barrel did. They're not without merit (only Mare Do Well is actually bad), but you're unlikely to find much brilliant about them either.

Or you can watch them all and decide for yourself. I really like Over a Barrel, though I admit the ending was a pathetic excuse of a conflict resolution. Read it and Weep introduces a great character, but the episode being vastly improved by cutting out over half of it speaks volumes. So, you might like these despite their problems.

While the Cider Squeezy episode itself wasn't superb... I kinda love the brothers' song.

Personally, I'd avoid skipping anything because:
1. Pony.
2. You need to experience something to properly criticise it.

Basically, this. It's the same as some people skipping watching the show entirely because of some preconception or other. Gotta see for yourself, then criticize. Personally, I've grown to somewhat like the Mare Do Well episode lately. It's taken too much of a leap ahead of everything and dumped all the stuff from inexplicably random locations to schizo tech overdrive on our heads at once, but the show's leveled out since, and taken within the whole it feels merely "out of place". Its only real drawback, the questionable way the others treated RD to drive their point home, seems to me no worse than any given crazy moment in season 2. Now that I've gotten over the worldbuilding-wrecking aspect of it, it's just a normal episode. Right now I consider Putting Your Hoof Down and Lesson Zero to be the worst, because seeing Fluttershy and Twilight act like they do goes way too far beyond enjoyable comedy for me. I need to watch them again and see if I can find some better redeeming qualities for them, but it's unlikely for Putting Your Hoof Down, because it has the added problem of Pinkie Pie calling in sick for the episode, and having her role performed by Bugs Bunny in a pink pony outfit. I think I facepalmed more often than laughed during that episode.

Everyone has their own tastes. Lesson Zero didn't seem that OOC to me. I act a lot like Twilight, and my breakdowns are more like Twilight's.
