Can't say I'm surprised. We tend to take over everything we're allowed to get a hoofhold in, so savvy people get paranoid around us.

All it means is I'll have to stop pony "derails." 'Tis unfortunate I won't be able to annouce season 3 and such, but it's flat out impossible to talk about modern cartoons and ignore MLP, so...

You're basically stuck with the Legend of Korra as far as quality entertainment goes. But you'll still be able to announce Season 3, as long as you direct the discussion on it here explicitly rather than let it continue in the thread.

Sweet Celestia, we really made some good impressions the first few times, didn't we? "Degeneracy" is such a strong word, Toady. Yeah, that about kills any hope of having any sort of MLP discussion on B12 ever again.

I find it mildly ironic that on a forum where people regularly crack jokes about slaughtering children and migrants, laugh about genocide, and some think child abduction/molestation is funny because "lol goblinz are pedos", that he would basically say that all pony discussion inevitably would end up beyond redemption.

I do wish some folks had been a little more self aware of what they were posting the first few times around. Sure, some of the blame can be laid at the feet of those that violently dislike(d) ponies and felt/feel the need to spew that hate all over the place, but you can't say our own little community didn't kinda stick a hoof in their own mouth. Instead of keeping the best hoof forward in a somewhat hostile environment, we somehow thought that revealing and delving into some of the less "mainstream acceptable" aspects of the fandom would be totally no big deal. Just my opinion, of course, and I wasn't present to see all of the train wrecks, and participated in none, as I wasn't even a brony yet at that point, IIRC.

At least he still tolerates mod/forum game related stuff.

And on that super smooth segue (it's sooooooo smooooooooth), somepony jump into the new Pony RTD before it dies out as well. Needs one more pony, at least.

I wasn't there for the first thread. IIRC, it was a bunch of imagespam, possibly had some x-rated stuff.

Second thread, some asshole posted porn I think, possibly for the express intent of doing the thread in. The rest of it was completely mellow.

Third thread, we were discussing a tagging system, including hypothetical tags in case we tagged stuff from out of our own pool of work. Mention of tags for x-rated stuff got Toady's attention and he banned us from ponies forever.

Overreaction? From our perspective, yes. From Toady's? Probably not.

The second thread was killed because of imagespam as well, IIRC. The porn thing was someone posting a link to an Encyclopedia Dramatica page that had a NSFW image; I don't recall if there was punishment for that, but if there was, it was individual.

The third thread, it was because of a multipage discussion over a rape tag specifically. That's pretty much the central pillar of Do Not Go There on B12.

So honestly, no, I can't say that it was an overreaction from any perspective but an uninformed one. We had three shots at doing it right, and we fucked up every single one. Though I'm still rather pissed about the people who started spreading lies after the final lock in order to start more forum drama.

It's by CyberUrist. He seems to be pretty active, so I have high hopes, but it needs to get off the ground first. Right now it's just a mad plant scientist unicorn by me and a pegasus that CyberUrist father will be playing via CyberUrist posting for him (Pretty sweet father. Lucky kid.). Needs three ponies to start, and I think he's amenable to late joiners.

My unicorn is named Thale Cress. +20% more coolness if you get the joke without needing to look it up.
