He didn't appear to be all that happy as the mind control really kicked in. Looked more akin to apathy, because, you know, he had no mind to care with.

About the no love thing = meh. Love implies caring about someone. If I were in Equestria and there were no one to care about, I'd actually be a detriment to the Changelings seeing as I'd be totally absorbed int the process of doing random crap. Such as partying with Discord.

They only feed off of love. Love gives them power, hate and rage don't seem to do anything. Besides, even if there was a poisonous individual sent out, the changelings aren't stupid enough to eat a husk full of disease.

Then again it could be succubi and not actual love, and they just said 'love' for the kiddies. In which case, my point still stands.

Lauren Faust had an idea, although I'm not sure she realized quite the scale of the impact she was going to make. But in the end, she made the world just a little bit of a better place.
