I couldn't really tell the difference. Incidentally, it looks like they've settled on 'Equestria' being the world rather/as well as the nation.

This only reaffirms my headcanon of Celestia and Luna being tyrants over the world, having unjustly overthrown the throne from the true embodiment of equality, Discord.

Except that they obviously don't rule the world by any means. We've now had references to the following:

1. A frontier (Appaloosa).
2. Wherever the griffons (sic) are originally from.
3. The Changeling lands.
4. This new 'Crystal Empire'.

That's the absolute minimum, and we've also seen that Celestia doesn't even have particularly good control over the land she does own. I know there's the whole Batmare meme re: Luna, but Celestia is the real Batman of the two; we've seen repeated indications that her real power is planning ahead and manipulation, rather than nuker-style magic. In fact, it's quite possible that she isn't divine at all and merely fabricated those stories in order to secure her hold on power, a la Divine Right and the Mandate of Heaven. That, or you've got a very large pantheon with potentially dozens of deity-class beings that don't have any qualms about taking a direct role in the world. But I think I prefer her as the manipulative ruler of a small principality using everything at her disposal to ensure the continued survival of her land and power. That isn't even necessarily a bad thing, it's just that she would probably fit in nicely with Thirty Years War-era Germany.

Still, you know, death to the corpse-empress and all that. Also wherever the Diamond Dogs came from, but I think of them as kobolds - sort of ubiquitous, and the dragon lands as well.

Yeah, I forgot about the dragons. Diamond Dogs are definite kobold material. Sort of wish that MLP had drow equivalents.

Changlings would kinda fit, if you assume they come from the underground.

That would make sense, if Chrysalis came from the mines under Canterlot.

Dragons seem to be nomadic or migratory, which means any 'dragon lands' are simply places where they roost for part of the year and everyone else avoids because, well, dragons.

Diamond dogs are probably nomadic as well, if they could even be called that. Maybe roving would be more like it.

I agree with FD, Celestia's always been more of a 'I'm not as powerful as I seem, I'm just very good at using what power I do have' sort of mare to me. I think the incident with Chrysalis was her getting a little too used to actually being the most powerful being in the room and forgetting herself.

Dragon territory is wherever a dragon is.

Until they get scolded for making bad decisions.

Bad decisions in this case meaning pissing off Fluttershy.

And there goes that idea for a fiction about that dragon being a baby.

Thinking about it, Fluttershy has more than a little in common with Ikari Shinji. There's a plot bunny that I'm putting up for adoption.
