I dont feel like using that obvious pony wallpaper, and I dont really like ones that jump on your face either like that, but I quess its pretty well done. And it has Luna.

There is definitive lack of everyones favourite owl here.

Yeah I prefer non-wallpaper wallpapers. Most wallpapers intended to be wallpapers are either flashy or nearly blank*, never reaching that nifty balance.

Also, I've noticed a disturbing lack of new Diamond Tiara art. She stole the friggin' show last week, I mean c'mon. She could probably rap against Discord in one of those showdown things to prove who's more villain-y, and win.




I dunno if the image macro is referring to DT or the pony in the back, but considering my recent fanfic, I'm gonna have to assume Diamond Tiara.

So I've been working with low res artwork, and decided to make some pony art this time around.

At least I think that's NMM and not Luna. Silly fandom thinking they're separate people.

Eh? Most fanon (and arugably canon as well) supports NMM and Luna as distinct personalities, so yeah, they are seperate people. Also, that is adorable.

Yeah it's a theory I've never liked, as IMO it cheapens the whole thing due to lack of motivation.


If NMM/Luna are the same people, then her motivation was as it said in the opening narration: jealousy and teenage angst.
If they're separate, then NMM's motivation is left unexplained. Why would she care about being shunned by the ponies? Presumably she just used Luna's angst to take her over, somehow. And so, she's turning Equestria into eternal night/etc for... no particular reason except "because I'm evil," which is boring.



As far as canon goes, I think it supports them being the same. Luna Eclipsed showed her acting... well, Nightmare Moon-ish. She got all angsty over being shunned again, got angry and terrifying again, but exhibited some self control this time. Not to mention actually transforming into Nightmare Moon's appearance. AND, she said Twilight "took away her dark powers," not freed her from something else's grasp.

On the other hand I've heard people mention a Lauren Faust quote saying she was corrupted by some outside force, but I never got a source link to it, so dunno.

If NMM is a split from Luna's original personality (namely, the 'corruption', composed primarily of Luna's jealousy, it makes perfect sense. Luna is Luna as she originally was, and NMM is "Luna" after the corruption of the Dark Side her negative emotions had taken control of her. When Twilight, etc. used the elements on NMM, they essentially ripped away the aspects which defined the NMM personality as distinct, restoring Luna's original personality while (apparently) retaining memories of her time as NMM. Therefore, they were distinct individuals and NMM had motivation (the same reasons as the ones which originally corrupted Luna and created NMM).

So if you believe that the negative parts that made NMM a distinct person were destroyed rather than banished, the Mane Six actually straight-up murdered NMM when they forcibly destroyed her personality, or 'self', when they restored Luna.
