Maybe the area that Cloudsdale supplies with rainwater is not the whole of Equestria? We know for a fact that there are places where the weather controls itself (e.g. the Everfree forest), so maybe the ponies only apply weather control to a tiny part of Equestria, or there are many other Cloudsdale-like weather factories where they produce rain.

Idea: Equestria is the only place that uses weather control. Equestria takes other nations' water (From shared oceans, rivers, etc.), and keeps it. This would result in massive storage facilities in Equestria, and plenty of water. It would also have the added benefit of causing endless droughts and famines in other countries.

That's why we're using average rainfall, real life has areas that are dryer as well. We could also use the average rainfall for the whole Earth. If you have a living goddess for a ruler, nobody is going to fuck with you, not even nature (except possibly a few residents of Gensokyo). Take that away...

I was contemplating sending it to EqD, but I wanted some input from someone else first.

I think the most shoddy assumption is the Cloudsdale altitude one, it could vary ±1000 meters, at least, which means a lot for the final result. So, what does everyone say? Does it deserve to be spread to the internet at large?

I wonder if there are some shots where you can see Cloudsdale and the ground. From the height of the houses and towers, you could probably guess how high it is.

Seriously, though:

Royal: I'd have a slight issue with this section in that monarchy has been pretty much proven to be a mediocre-at-best system of sociopolitical organization in most cases. In this context, not so much.

Pony: All that is right with the world.

Wedding: Connotations of the "sale" of children, though that is rather grey moral ground, both because of conflicting beliefs and because of the role of arranged marriages (esp. among nobility, etc.) in the political process.

So yeah, nothing particularly objectionable, and it also fits with the other topic at hand.
