Ali-Twi is getting newly settled into her role as a princess. She asks her friends to treat her 'like a princess', using titles and bowing such, but they're all so used to her just being another friend they fail miserably. Twilight starts to become angry about it, eventually fussing at her friends, and it works, sort of: they start to treat her like a princess, but they stop treating her as a friend. Twilight realizes that she'd rather have them as friends than as subjects and apologizes for being a bitch (naturally not actually using that word in-show).

I don't think Twilight would ask that of her friends. I find it more likely that some of them (maybe mane 6, most likely regular townsfolk) treat her differently but she gets irritated leading to the moral of just because a person goes through a change or a promotion doesn't mean they're completely different people.

It could go 50/50 either way. I'd figure the writers would go along the lines of friends over-formalizing with Twilight.
It seems more natural to me that Twilight would go overboard.... though...

You guys know how Twilight got that breathing/calming technique from the Crystal Hair Thing episode just before the finale? She did use that technique in the finale... It seems too perfect of a personality changer made for the whole turn Twilight to an Alicorn thing...

You know, talking about the whole princess thing.

I've heard that Lauren Faust wanted Prince Blueblood to be a Duke, with the natural implication that dukes were more common than princes. This was the same reason for her wanting the Princesses to be Queens.

Of course, this is forgetting a few things. Firstly, you'll remember the book by Machiavelli, 'The Prince'. He uses in that book the term 'prince' for any who has independent or quasi-independent sovereignty over a territory that is retained by blood. That is to say, almost any feudal noble. This fits with the medieval use of the word, in which prince is a more generic term used even for counts.

Secondly, in France and, indeed, much of Europe, 'prince' is a title in its own right, many times without any ties to the royal family, or even to territory at all. Sound like Blueblood much?

Thirdly, and lastly for this moment, the term 'prince' as an heir? Used even by non-royals.

Calling Blueblood a Duke, just so he won't be a prince, is worse than calling him a prince.

On top of that, there's a significant difference between a typical Disney princess and the princesses of FiM. The latter have more to do than just act as heirs or get treated like a social currency among the nobility. They're leaders, they have the power, privileges and, most importantly, the responsibility of actual rulers. Bashing a girl for wanting to be that is like bashing someone for aspiring to the presidency... which would still be a good idea, honestly, since the presidency, at least in the US, is a shit job.
