Mildly alcoholic beverages were extremely common sources of drinking water in areas where there was no other safe water source, and was even given to kids. Even if the ponies do have a safe water source, allowing kids to drink the mild alcohol in the short-ferment cider might just be traditional.

Depending on the beer, yes that sounds like a fair assessment. Coors, Budweiser, Miller...terrible beers, nothing but water. Now, Sam Adams, Guinness, or any local dark beers, those are good. Or flavored fruity beers, those are awesome too.

If it tastes anything like human piss, it's salty and so ridiculously bitter it burns.

Of course, the stench of urine being so strong you can taste it might not be the exact same thing, but I'm not really planning on actually tasting piss anytime soon.

I love Read It and Weep, even though I know it is just an Indiana Jones parody and a reading is fun episode. It's still awesome. Of course, Rainbow Dash is my second favorite pony, so most of her episodes I love (S2E8 I don't hate, I simply view it as very average...it has its moments.)

EDIT: I love how Twilight decides to read about the history of Hearts & Hooves Day instead of, well, actually getting a date.
Also, the moral of today's episode: Don't slip date rape drugs in your teacher's and brother's drinks.

EDIT-2 "A Friend Indeed": Not one of my favorites, Pinkie's just a bit too annoying for my tastes. But, since I've decided to accentuate the positive because there's enough negativity on the internet already, what I liked:
-The smile song is fun
-"Ooo...what does this bauble do?" <-Ms. Rogers, your Dexter's Lab is showing.
-Rainbow and Twilight in the library.
-Pinkie scares the shit out of me sometimes...you can never escape her if she wants something from you.
-Cranky's sarcastic digs at Pinkie are amusing.

This episode...has problems. I didn't mind Fluttershy, but I had a bigger problem that the rest of the cast and city was completely out of character. I can't help but think Iron Will is actually a Manotaur from that Gravity Falls episode now.

I know nothing about the above conversation. Episode response today:

I absolutely love It's About Time, and I have very few complaints about episodes 20-26, it's like they decided to air some of the best episodes near the end of the season. Of course, I also love time travel in all its forms. Also, it's an episode written by Mitch Larson, who makes some of my favorite ones.

Also, I completely missed the mark on Season 3 start time.

Short story even shorter:

In Sailor Moon, Sailors Neptune and Uranus were heavily implied to be lovers. When the English dub was made, the studio (as is typical) changed them to being "cousins". Except that they still acted like lovers, so all the censors managed to do was make it a bit kinkier.
