Tangentially, I'm kinda wondering. How many people actually think (i.e. have it in their fanon) that "sending ponies/things to the Moon" is really one of Celestia's powers/spells/abilities? It's just become so ubiquitous, and I still fail to see the reasoning behind it.

I personally wouldn't doubt that she could very easily send someone anywhere with her magic. As for actually imprisoning someone's very essence into something like how she imprisoned Luna/NMM in the moon, that is the part that would be really difficult.
