"Taking it in stride" is something they are not doing however, with their essential "middle finger" in Hasbro's direction. While I'm on the fence about Youtube shutdowns, an actual full on download site may have been a bit too far. As much as I appreciate the Ponyarchive team for their hard work, FiM is still a relatively high budget cartoon, and with DVD's on the horizon, as well as the iTunes downloads finally stepping up their release speed, it was sort of inevitable.
One thing I do hope they consider, is the audience outside the US who have no access to the new episodes aside fom Youtube. This is an issue that needs to be addressed more than anything. FiM is breaking new ground, so it's not a huge surprise that things are happening slowly, but alternative methods should probably be explored before cutting off the supply entirely.

Yep.
It's blatantly illegal and I dunno what they were thinking. Absolutely, the fandom exists because episodes are free on youtube, but at this point that's moot; you can get episodes most anywhere.
They should've shut down and quietly restarted elsewhere.

Pretty much; they handled it rather badly. Making the community look bad is good for none of us. (Glad I finished ripping the last of Season 1 from YT before any potential shutdowns there; I just got a iTunes giftcard, so I may buy Season 2 there, assuming I can remember how to unhide iTunes files so I can get the raw video and mp3 files without needing to rely on fucking Apple.

Actually, we talked about that in the Filly Synchtube yesterday and it seems that most virus/trojan alerts are just false alarms because the site uses iframes which use redirects 'n shit (not completely sure, to be honest) which are commonly used by websites that spread viruses. Thus, many firewalls/antivirus programs consider any website that uses iframe to be infested.Zaerosz wrote:RED ALERT

Although it might be infected, I'm not completely sure. Did anyone look at the source? Someone in Filly did yesterday and they told us that it is not, in fact, infested.

I've never even heard of that website until now. What was it and why did it get shut down?

It was a repository of color corrected, high quality episode rips. It was shut down by hasbro.
As for stuff on youtube, hard to tell for certain, at least for the episodes themselves. Decent chance that Hasbro's taking those down.
They're definitely NOT taking down fanart stuff though, so the closing of musicians accounts/etc is all done by trolls.
