*sigh* Just spotted Graebeard's (a)theology thread over on B12. Yet another thread to add to my list of "Threads Andal is not allowed to post in out of fear of getting caught in Internet argument spiral, no matter how interesting they may seem".

So a chain of events that can't really be elaborated on in the general boards has led to the birth of a running gag that my zebra character in an RP for my local brony group has an absolutely glorious ass, whether she's a pony, anthro or humanized.
I consider this a perfectly good use of my time.

Re: Random non sequitur posts thread
Finishing up the DCAU, I'm watching Superman the Animated Series. It's weird; I remember a lot of these episodes, but not where I saw them. Sometimes a scene will pop up and I get deja vu from like, a decade and a half back. Guess I watched it as a kid more than I thought.
Anyway, it's often boring, as can be expected for Superman. Not to say it's bad, but it relies on flashy fight scenes; Superman's obviously going to win but the question they try to ask is, how showy can he be? And that's not a question I'm interested in answering. The best episodes often have little to do with Superman except to resolve the plot at the end. I quite liked the Batman crossover, but only because Batman kept showing Superman up; when Superman flew back to his apartment and put on his Clark Kent glasses, the look on his face as he glanced out the window to see Batman was priceless.

I already mentioned this over at B12, but have a short taste of my current writing project.
Oh yes I am. I am doing this so hard.
- Spoiler:
- It was finally over, or so he hoped. Strange. He stood before a rather eerie man in a dark business suit, the background tinted green, with a blotch of cyan off to the right. Humming rings rose up from the base of the device on which he stood. The suited man spoke in an odd, stilted manner, “Gordon Freeman, in the flesh. Or rather, in the Hazard Suit. I took the liberty of relieving you of your weapons; most of them were government property. Though perhaps they may be returned at a later date, that we shall see. As for the suit, I think you’ve earned it.”
For a moment, a blinding flash of green light washed over both the other and him; when it dissipated, they stood amidst scorched ruins, flames burning in the background. The G-Man spoke again, “The border world, Xen, is in our control, for the time being. Thanks to you; quite a nasty piece of work you managed over there. I am impressed.”
Another flash of sickly green light, and the two stood on a chunk of rock suspended over a vast chasm, strange creatures flying through the void, barely visible over the G-Man’s shoulder. That enigmatic figure spoke again, “That’s why I’m here, Mister Freeman. I have recommended your services to my… eeeeh, employers, and they have authorized me to offer you a job. They agree with me that you have a limitless potential.
With the third flash of light, a slight frown marred Freeman’s face, banished with a slight shake of his head. He and the G-Man stood in a gondola, not unlike the ones used for internal transport back in Black Mesa. The G-Man continued where he had left off, “You’ve proved yourself a decisive man, so I don’t expect you’ll have any trouble deciding what to do. If you’re interested, just step into the portal and I will take that as a yes. Otherwise, mhm-well-mhm, I can offer you a battle you have no chance of winning. Rather an anticlimax after what you’ve just survived.”
The door of the gondola opens, revealing a glowing green sphere, surrounded by a hazy aura and several spikes of light of a similar color.
“Time to choose,” the G-Man nearly sings, his facial expression not shifting at all. Gordon starts to step forward, but as you do, a new voice calls to you, this one young and female, “Oh sacred, beautiful, and strong familiar spirit! I desire and here I plead from my heart! Answer to my guidance!”
For the first time since the accident in the test chamber, Gordon Freeman was unreservedly puzzled. A glance to his left gave no indication of the G-Man’s state of mind, though he seemed to have developed a tic on his right cheek. Quirking an eyebrow, Freeman stepped forward into the glowing green oval.~ ~ ~
It was a rather nice day, almost idyllic, one could say. Or rather, it had been. An explosion erupted in the open meadow outside the walls of the Tristain Academy of Magic, coughs echoing through the crowd of gathered students as a cloud of brown-grey smoke slowly dispersed, revealing two figures standing where one had been but a moment ago. One was familiar to the gathered students, the petite figure of Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière, more commonly known as Louise the Zero.
As the pink-haired girl stared up at the rather imposing figure in front of her, those few students who might have offered her silent sympathy were too busy gawking at the same spectacle to consider it. To be fair, it-or he, rather-, was a strange sight for the Tristainians. The goateed man wore a suit of armor that bore little resemblance to knightly mail; it was a dull, dual-colored mix of orange and grey, curved metallic plates bonded by some sort of strange fabric, an orange sigil at the peak of the chest-plate. The armor was scratched and dinged, matching the scorches and cuts on the man’s unarmored face. Louise hesitated, jaw slowly starting to march downward.

Re: Random non sequitur posts thread
Got a bit more written for that thing. Trying to decide at what point I want to diverge from canon, and
HOHOHO I had to end the scene with that. Because yes, this is going to be a no-dialogue-Freeman spectacular, both because I'm not confident in my ability to write dialogue for him, because everyone who tries seems to muck it up, and because this is so much funnier. Also, The Freeman knows French and (heh) doesn't like to talk about it. And the Flame Snake can smell the blood on him.
- Spoiler:

The armor was scratched and dinged, matching the scorches and cuts on the man’s unarmored face. Louise hesitated, jaw slowly starting to march downward.~ ~ ~
Gordon couldn’t help but chuckle mentally as he looked down at the girl who stood before him; he suspected that events had deviated from the plans of that slimy, suited “man” and whatever it was that he represented. Better unknown circumstances than employment with some sort of cosmic horror, after all. As he glanced around, he began to wonder if placing the responsibility for that intervention back in wherever-it-was had been a deliberate act by these people, or if they were even involved at all; he appeared to be in the center of a group of what appeared to be dedicated LARPers, or perhaps some sort of bizarre field trip, given that all but one of the people in front of him were uniformed and the proper age for students.
These suppositions were damaged somewhat when Freeman turned slightly and noticed the walled compound- that is, the stone towers and walls rising from the field. Of course, he could have been transported to some old European castle. Except that this one appeared to be practically brand new, at least from what he could see. He returned his attention to the pink-haired girl in front of him, who was currently turned back towards the other students, shouting at them in what sounded like… French!? A fleeting hope that he was mistaken was quickly washed away along with certain memories best left unacknowledged as Gordon began to mentally translate, “-was just a little screw-up!”
Her primary antagonist, a rather well-endowed redhead, returned, “That’s the Zero we know, summoning a commoner of all things,” her laughter echoed by the students around her. The pink-haired girl looked over at an older, bald man, who was currently staring at Gordon with narrowed eyes,
“Mr. Colbert.”
The man-teacher?-shook his head slightly and answered the girl, “Yes?”
“Please let me repeat the ritual! I’m sure I will do it properly this time!”
“I can’t let you do that. Ms. Vallière, this is a sacred ceremony that determines the course of your life. To retry the summoning would be a desecration. You have summoned this commoner, therefore he is your familiar spirit. Continue with the ceremony,” the teacher closed, with a slight hint of steel in his voice as he returned his attention to Gordon. With a sigh, the pinkette turned back toward him, apparently gathering her will. She spoke, this time as if reciting a recipe rather than voicing an opinion,
“My name is Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière. Pentagon that governs the five powers, bless this person and make it my familiar spirit,” she finished, placing her hands on Gordon’s shoulders and standing on the tips of her toes to give herself a bit of extra height. He tensed; it felt as if there was a headcrab poised to strike, hidden just behind him. She kissed him, on the lips, then let herself down, listening to the teacher, who had approached while she spoke, his gaze not drifting at all from Gordon’s armored figure, his wooden staff carefully gripped in both hands,
“Good, Louise, you have completed the contract.”
As the bald man spoke, the physicist felt an intense burning in his left hand, as if he had trailed it through a pool of acid back in Black Mesa. Nothing particularly notable after what he had been through, but it still hurt terribly. Smoke rose from the gauntlet covering the same hand, angular runes engraving themselves into the hardened alloy. As they completed themselves, the pain vanished as quickly as it had come. Gordon rotated his hand examining the runes, incidentally giving the teacher a glimpse of them as well, his eyes widening momentarily.
At some invisible signal known only to teenaged students (whatever world they live in), the crowd dispersed, most walking towards an open gate in the walls, while a short, blue-haired girl mounted what appeared to be a small dragon of all things-not that a dragon was particularly unusual after the events of the past few days-, carefully slinging a staff over her shoulder as the two lifted into the air with heavy strokes from the dragon’s leathery wings.
Faint mutterings arose from the pink-haired girl-Louise, she had called herself?-as she stormed off after the rest of the students, the teacher quickly outpacing her. After a few moments, she realized that Gordon was still standing where he had first appeared. Indeed, he was quite distracted, mourning the loss of his first and best friend from the events in Black Mesa, that beautiful cast-iron crowbar, adorned with bloodstains and chipped paint. He felt as if he would need it soon, for some reason. Louise strode back over to him, poking him once and then pointing at herself, then the towers, before walking off again. With a shrug, Gordon followed. Hey, at least she was speaking his language that time.
HOHOHO I had to end the scene with that. Because yes, this is going to be a no-dialogue-Freeman spectacular, both because I'm not confident in my ability to write dialogue for him, because everyone who tries seems to muck it up, and because this is so much funnier.
